The thanksgiving party bingo words
Ten cards, each one different, drawn from these 22 words. Calling cards are included, so nobody has to make a list up on the day.
turkey, pumpkin pie, acorn, corn, family, feast, gravy, stuffing, cranberry, leaves, harvest, parade, football, napkin, grateful, rolls, squash, apple cider, scarecrow, wishbone, leftovers, friends
What the charades cards ask guests to do
There are 24 cards. A few of them:
- Carve the turkey
- Bake a pumpkin pie
- Rake a pile of leaves
- Jump in a pile of leaves
- Watch the parade
- Throw a football
- Pass the mashed potatoes
- Pull a wishbone
The scavenger hunt list
12 things to find, written so they work indoors or in a garden. Nothing has to be bought or hidden in advance.
- Something orange like a pumpkin
- A fall leaf
- Something round like a pie
- A feather
- Something you are thankful for
- A napkin
- Something brown like a turkey
- Something that smells like cinnamon
- A wooden spoon
- A photo of family or friends
- Something soft and cozy
- An acorn or a little rock
Word scramble
10 words to unscramble, with an answer key on the next page for whoever is running it: turkey, pumpkin, harvest, grateful, cranberry, stuffing, thankful, autumn, feast, gravy.
Ages, timing and printing
- Made for the whole family. Kids and grown ups play together. Younger children may need someone to read the bingo calling cards and the scavenger hunt list out loud.
- About two hours of party. Bingo runs 10 to 15 minutes, the scavenger hunt 15 to 20, charades as long as they are still laughing.
- Plain paper is fine for the signs, banner and hunt sheets. Card stock is worth it for the bingo cards, charades cards and cupcake toppers, since those get handled.
- US Letter, colour, single sided. Print the invitations first if the party is more than a week away.
- The cupcake toppers say GIVE THANKS, GRATEFUL, THANKFUL, GOBBLE, PIE TIME, CHEERS.
Thanksgiving game ideas for family and friends
- Hand out the bingo cards while the turkey rests, and use candy corn as markers.
- Charades after dinner gets everyone off the couch: kids against grown ups.
- Send the kids on the scavenger hunt while the table gets set.
